THORPEX ATOST Field Campaign

Experiment Information:

The Observing System Research and Predictability Experiment (THORPEX) was conducted from the Bangor International Airport in Bangor, Maine from November 17 to December 18, 2003. THORPEX has several objectives, including improvement of weather prediction models, satellite validation (TERRA, AQUA, ICESat), validation of NAST, and improvement of aviation weather products. The ATOST is the second in a series of campaigns in support of the World Weather Research Program, with a goal of improving both short- and long-term weather forecasting.
