Tropical Composition Cloud and Climate Coupling (TC4) mission

TC4 logo

Experiment Information:

These flights in July and August 2007 were dedicated to studies of the tropical upper atmosphere. The TC4 experiment involved multiple aircraft and ground sites. The base of operations for TC4 was San Jose, Costa Rica. The CPL observed subvisible cirrus that are known to cover a large portion of the tropics as well as extensive Saharan dust in the Caribbean. Validation for various A-Train sensors was also be an important aspect of the TC4 activities.

Payload for the validation mission includes the Cloud Physics Lidar (CPL), the Cloud Radar System (CRS), and the MODIS Airborne Simulator (MAS).
